River Rock Cafe in Mount Pleasant

We stopped late afternoon on a Saturday in November, pretty quiet. My wife and i, and 2 other couples, we each had tenderloins and the were good. Good service, quaint eclectic decor. Good place to explore, I'd go back.

They aren't kidding when they say the tenderloin is huge... We ordered than ate across the street at the small park pavilion. Was very good and filling for a very fair price.

Butch and his staff are sitting on a gold mine. Do yourself a favor and go. My favorite is the hoghouse with extra chili mayo made from scratch. My husband likes the olive burger. Just do it.

Not to bad. It's definitely hidden in the sticks, but the food was not bad nor amazing. It is very small with about 4 tables so I definitely wouldn't take a group there. Overall it was a fun experience. Took about 8 minutes to get a refill.

Nice quaint place off the beaten path outside of Mt Pleasant. Porky pig tenderloin good, but waitress was rushing, so I got a pretty plain sandwich. The cut tenderloin meal was dry, fries and onion rings good. Portions were big. Overall, I'd recommend it.

A must-visit if you find yourself in Mount Pleasant. Popular with the locals and the RVing crowd. Indoor & outdoor seating plus a short counter you can belly up to. Food is big & tasty for the price; we enjoyed their pork tenderloin sandwich and their "Tiger Burger." Note that on very hot days (like the day we visited) they might close an hour early due to the heat.

I love their food. Great little place to eat if like touching elbows.. I order mine to go. I don't know how they make such good food, so quick.

It's a gorgeous little cafe. People are down the Earth and very friendly. Even had a little boy asked me if he could give me a hug. I will go back again sometime soon.

Good flavor for a burger but it can get pricey if you are hungry. BYO there's no liquor license. Really rustic decor.

Good was okay but the service is terrible. The staff had a bad attitude with us the second we walked in the door. Would not recommend if you want a pleasant dining experience.

I grew up going to this place back when it was the Oakland Mills store. It was a quiet little Country Place out of the way where they had the best Iowa tenderloin sandwiches in the area. Now it is a quiet little Country restaurant with a bigger dining room, but the food here is still delicious. I would recommend this place to anybody. Stop by try a tenderloin or whatever interest you off the menu. Make sure you do try some pie. We asked the waitress about them and they are all handmade and made locally.

Unique experience! Unusual but quaint seating. Not an exstensive menu but the serving are huge. Set back by the river. We really enjoyed our lunch! Worth making the trip.

A week ago we were there with quiet a few people kinda across the street in the middle there and the girl serving us did an amazing job she deserves a raise and the food was amazing as well 👍🏻👍🏻

It may be a small cabin in the woods but the food is amazing, the pies especially are to go for.

We stopped for lunch on our way to Geode State Park. This small but friendly restaurant lies on the bank of the Skunk River. There are a variety of burgers and tenderloin sandwiches, among other delicious treats.

Rustic, comfortable and decorated by the locals. Big tender juicy tenderloins. Yummy olive burger, don't miss this sandwich. Great staff! I can hardly wait to go back.

Great service and great food. The river is within sight and we had no cell service, which made for an awesomely relaxing lunch with my wife.

I like the ambiance. I've been here before but there was a different chef. The food was okay (needed more seasoning). I'll probably give this place another chance.

At first site the place looked like an absolute dive, its way out in the boonies right on the river. The restaurant is rather rustic on the inside and has a really down to earth country feel. The food was absolutely amazing. The only complaint i can really make is that they nickel and dime you to death on your meal, the soda is by the can and the price on the menu for your burger is only for the burger. It would be great if they offered like a basket with a burger and side. Other than that it was an overall great experience. The staff were very friendly and genuinely cared about your experience.

Definitely the best burger in town. The prices are super reasonable and you'll leave satisfied if not full. They could use a bit more indoor seating space, especially in the winter.I'd recommend the cheese balls and the tiger burger. You'll definitely want to spread that peanut butter on the burger too.

We (3) stopped and was asked to wait due to being full which was no problem... at first, then after about 20 we were told they had a table for us. Went in and sat was given menus and that was the last time we were given any attention. Another party of 3 showed up and were seated outside, given menus and beverages order was taken, now upon them getting there beverages another group showed up and was seated, and again; menu, beverage order... us, still waiting to have a waitress. The party of 3 now have there appetizers & the other table has their beverages...we're still waiting. Now a couple comes in and is seated just a table away from us... they get their menus and drink order... it has now been about 45 minutes or longer and still no waitress... WE GOT UP AND LEFT AND WILL NEVER RETURN AGAIN!Went to the Press Box in Mt Pleasant and ate the service was outstanding and the food was fast and it tasted fantastic!

Best place to get a tenderloin! Get there early or you'll have to wait (but, it's worth the wait). Portions are big and food is tasty. I highly recommend a visit to Butch's River Rock Cafe!
